Effective pain management is an important component of postsurgical care. Many patients, however, continue to experience inadequate pain relief. The ideal postoperative analgesic treatment should provide rapid and effective pain relief, have a low incidence of adverse effects, and have minimal impact on major organ systems or no significant interaction with other pharmacologic agents. Non-opioid analgesics are used as well for an effective pain management in postsurgical care.
